10 tips for cleaning with white vinegar

1. Garbage disposal: That disposal in the kitchen starting to stink up the place? Here's what to do: Freeze an ice tray full of white distilled vinegar. Don't mix any water or anything else with the vinegar. Once it's frozen, break out 3 or 4 of the vinegar cubes and drop them into the disposal. Then run the disposal while cold tap water is flowing into it. Don't use hot water because it will cause the cubes to melt too soon. This should help with that smell.
2. Bathroom germs: Use a spray bottle, you can find empty ones at most grocery stores, and fill it with undiluted white vinegar. Then just spray the vinegar as you would any bathroom cleaner, on sinks, on toilets, on tile, whatever. Wipe away with a damp cloth. This not only helps to kill germs, but it brings a shine to the sprayed areas and helps with any smell issues.
3. Litter box: White vinegar is fantastic for cleaning the bottom of a litter box for your cats or rabbits. Make sure to empty the litter box first, of course. The vinegar can clean up the worst of stains in the bottom of a litter box, and it helps fight odors. Spray or pour the vinegar in, swish around a little, then dump. If there's a serious stain, repeat. Then wash out with water and dry.
4. Sticky scissors: Been cutting tape with your scissors and now they're sticky? Vinegar comes to the rescue again. Dip a clean cloth into white distilled vinegar, then use the cloth to wipe off the scissors. Those scissors will shine and be in perfect working order once more.
5. Remove wallpaper: Yep, white vinegar is good for this, too. Use equal parts vinegar and water, then spray it on heavily or even use a paint roller. That wallpaper should be rolling off almost on its own in a matter of minutes.
6. Soapy film: Your counter tops showing soapy film or rings from where cups or glasses have been sitting? Mix water and vinegar in equal proportions, wet a rag in the mixture, then squeeze out excess. You've got a great cleaner for getting rid of those filmy marks.
7. Tile cleaner: Mix together 1 cup of distilled white vinegar, a half cup of baking soda, a cup of ammonia and a gallon of warm water. Now you've got a near-perfect tile cleaner. And it's inexpensive, too.
8. Microwave: Place a microwave-safe bowl filled with half a cup of white vinegar and half a cup of water in the center of the microwave. Bring them to a boil in the microwave. This will not only help with any smell, but it should soften any food chunks sticking to the inside of the microwave. Remember to wipe it all clean.
9. Grease splatter: This mess can be especially bad on oven doors. Use full-strength white diluted vinegar to saturate the greasy mess. Really poor it on if you have to. Leave that oven door open and let the vinegar sit for 15 to 20 minutes. Then clean up with a sponge or cloth.
10. Coffee cup stains: Use equal parts baking soda and white vinegar to scrub the coffee cub, then rinse clean and dry.
